The Cohiba cigar legend began when the cigars were first created as Fidel Castro’s personal smokes before ever being available to the public. Yet, in celebration of the 45th Anniversary of the brand’s official 1966 launch, a very special limited production cigar was announced for 2011: The Cohiba 1966 Edicion Limitada 2011. This ultra-rare cigar is a 6 ½” x 52 Double Robusto shaped around the best Vuelta Abajo tobaccos. A dark wrapper leaf and pigtail head further distinguish the exceptional cigar.
The luxurious smoke starts with a rich tapestry of coffee bean, chocolate-covered macadamia nut, and spice flavors. Splashes of sweetness play off rich natural tobacco notes to lend a deeply satisfying complexity. Waves of creaminess flow throughout the medium-to-full-bodied affair, which draws to a most gratifying conclusion.
With only a limited number of cigars released in 2011, the Cohiba 1966 Edicion Limitada 2011 is no everyday smoke. Instead, it is an occasion all its own, a cigar to be given the proper attention deserving of a national treasure, such as the extraordinarily special experience this cigar offers.
